    Additional merge fields for event autoresponses

      At the time this article was written, there were no event merge fields.  Autoresponses can't tell a supporter what they had signed up to do.  If you'd like an autoresponse that has the event information in it like this, this read on!

      Solution

      The solution is to read the event information from the database and store it so that it can be used for the receipt. Here are some steps that you can use:

      1. Edit the template for events
      2. Locate the </body> tag using the browser's search tool.
      3. Insert an empty line just before the </body> tag.
      4. Click here to see the script.
      5. Click on the Raw button.  A window will open with just the source.
      6. Copy the contents of the window and close it.
      7. Paste the copied text into the newly inserted line in the template.
      8. Save the template.
      9. Test!

      Autoresponse merge fields

      This solution provides these Event merge fields for autoresponses.

      • Event_Name
      • Start
      • End
      • Location_Common_Name
      • Address
      • Directions
      • Event_City
      • Event_State
      • Event_ZIP
      • Event_Country
      • Event_Amount

      Note: The "Location Name" for the event is stored in the Location_Common_Name field.

      If the event has both credit card and "Invoice me" payment options, then you should probably use this Send Condition so that this receipt is only sent to attendees that paid with a credit card:
