    In This Article:

It's a bit disappointing to go to a list of actions and not find anything there.

The folks at Hunger Solutions Minnesota point out that having a message when the list is empty would be a very good thing.  Especially when the legislators are between sessions.

If that sounds like a good idea for your organization, then read on!

      Solution

The solution is to add a script to your default template that pastes a message into the action list if there are no actions.  Here are some steps that you can use:

      1. Edit the default template.  Click here if you need help getting started.
      2. Use the browser's search tool to locate the </body> tag.
      3. Insert a blank line just before the </body> tag.
      4. Click here to see the page where the solution lives.
      5. Locate and click the "Raw" button.  A new window will appear that contains just the solution.
      6. Copy the contents of the window and close it.
      7. Return to the template editor.
      8. Paste the copied text into the newly inserted line in the template.
      9. Save the template.
      10. Test!

      Configuration

If you'd rather have a different message, or you'd like to change the appearance of the message, then here are some steps that you can use.

      1. Edit the default template.  Click here if you need help getting started.
      2. Use the browser's search tool to locate the </body> tag.
      3. Look just above the </body> tag for the HTML follows these steps.
      4. You can change the message by carefully removing the current one and typing in your own.  Please be careful not to disturb the HTML that surrounds the message.
      5. To change the HTML with the message, please be sure to keep id="empty-action-list".  That's how the script identifies the message to be copied into the list of actions.

<h2 id="empty-action-list">There aren't any actions now. Please check back later!</h2>
