When to use it
When you're sending out donation requests to supporters - you'll receive more donations if the amount you ask them to donate customized based upon their previous behavior. For example, request an amount that's $10 more than their last donation.
How to get there
Use the dynamic content drop down list to automatically generate and insert dynamic content into your email blasts.
How to Insert Donation History Dynamic Content
Prepare your email content
- Write your HTML content in your email blast or streaming email as normal.
- Place a dollar sign ($) where you'd like the dynamic content (customized donation amount) to go.
- Put your cursor immediately after the $ sign.
Choose the donation information
Once your cursor is in the right place, use the Add dynamic content drop down menu and select Donation History. This will open a pop up window.
Source info: Select the number which will be the base of the donation history calculation. Would you like the amount you request to be a factor of the Most Recent donation the supporter made, the Average of all previous donations, the Largest donation, or the Smallest donation?
Increment info: Type any number you'd like. If you type 25, the dynamic amount requested via this email will be increased by a factor of 25.
Type of increase: Indicate whether the dynamic amount requested should increase by a defined dollar amount, a percent increase, or no increase at all (in this case, the amount requested will be the same as the most recent, average, largest, or smallest donation as indicated).
Default if no donation history: What happens if the person receiving this email has never donated before? Type an amount here and any supporters who have never donated will be asked to donate this much.
Insert the Script
Once you have chosen the donation information, click the button to see the script in the Dynamic Preview field below. Then click the button to insert the script in your email content.
There are two options for testing to ensure your dynamic content displays correctly: Sending a test email and previewing the content.
On the validation tab of your email blast workflow, send test email(s) to verify the dynamic content appears as expected.
On the content tab of the email blast workflow, click on the blue button at the top right. Select a supporter in the Content Preview field and click the button. You will see how this content will display to the selected supporter.
