How you delete supporter records depends on two factors:
-
How many records you want to delete
-
Whether your Engage account is linked to a Salsa CRM account
There are two options for manual deletions in Engage, individually or in bulk. If you have more than 25 records, and those records are not in a Group or cannot be queried on to get into query results or a Group, use the Deleting a large number of records (Engage-CRM) section below as a guide.
Deleting individual records
Select the Supporters menu on the left and enter the name or email address associated with the record you want to delete in the search bar.
Use the checkboxes in the first column of the Supporter table to select the records you want to delete. To select all visible records in the list, check the box in the header row.
Next, find your Actions dropdown and choose Delete from the menu. The number in parentheses represents the total number of Supporters you checked.
If your Engage account is connected to a Salsa CRM account, any synced records included in a synced Group in the Salsa CRM are recreated in Engage shortly after deletion.
To delete Engage supporters but preserve their matching records in CRM, remove CRM constituents from any synced groups before deleting. This prevents them from syncing back to Engage.

Deleting records in bulk
To delete multiple Engage records simultaneously:
- create and save a supporter query to search for the records to be deleted.
- prior to deletion consider exporting the query results (it is not possible to restore deleted records in Engage - this export would be needed if you find a record was deleted in error)
- After verifying the deletion list & exporting their info, select Query Options > Bulk Delete Supporters
- Enter your initials to confirm the deletion
Bulk deletion for accounts linked to CRM
If your Engage account is connected to a Salsa CRM account, any synced supporters who are members of a synced group in Salsa CRM will have their records recreated in Engage shortly after deletion. To avoid this:
- If you want to delete in both CRM & Engage
- You will also need to run a bulk delete in CRM
- The CRM delete should be done prior to the Engage delete
- If you wish to retain the CRM records
- You will need to remove the supporter from any synced groups prior to the Engage delete
- Read this article on managing group membership.
- You can add/remove supporters from static groups in bulk via AQW's post query options
- For any synced smart groups, you may need to adjust the query so it does not return the records you don't wish to sync
